2020 Rotary Multi-Sport RiverFest

Register for 2020 Rotary Multi-Sport RiverFest

End your summer on a high note at the Rotary Multisport Riverfest -- right on the edge of downtown Salem and in the heart of the Willamette Valley wine region!

At the heart of the lineup of events, the Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquabike include a challenging but rewarding river swim, bike ride and run in a gorgeous natural setting.

The 5k and 10k run/walk courses cross the footbridge into Minto-Brown Island Park's wildlife sanctuary before looping back to Riverfront Park.

The finish line at Riverfront park is your gateway to post-event festivities that include a free Family Fun Run, local food, beer and wine, music, and raffle.

All finishers receive a medal and tech shirt; those who place in their age group also receive an additional gold, silver, or bronze medal.

Swim Details

The swim course for the Rotary Multi-sport RiverFest has inherent challenges which will make it very rewarding to all who complete it, but will also require participants to adequately train and prepare before the event. In late September, the current is starting to pick up again after the summer lull, and water temperatures drop to an average of 58 degrees, sometimes colder.

In the interest of safety, we will have kayaks, motor boats, and jet skis along the course and warming shelters on each bank, along with ambulance support just in case.

Based on seven samples taken over a seven-year period (2010-2017) by the City of Salem at the Union Street Bridge, temperatures in mid-September ranged from 57.4F to 62.8F, with a seven-year average of 60.8F.
